Frequently asked questions

What is Breathe Degrees?

Breathe Degrees is a wellness experience unlike any other! We fuse experiential music with cutting-edge science and expert instruction to settle your mind and charge your body. Our methods are seeded in ancient traditions and packed with science-backed benefits to boost mood, energy, focus, athletic performance and increase longevity.

What style is this breathwork?

We practice a holotropic style breath work that serves as a high intensity workout for your lungs in order to move towards total lung capacity.

What is hot and cold plunge?

This is what is known as contrast hydrotherapy and involves alternating between hot and cold temperatures.  We have group plunges that can be booked separately or used as part of the class experience.

What if I am stressed about the Cold Plunge?

We love stress at Breathe Degrees! Our highly trained instructors are here to support, educate and coach you through how hormetic stress (the good stress) encourages adaptation and growth…even in the cold!

What is included in the monthly membership?

Includes unlimited classes (in-studio and online platform),contrast hydrotherapy (cold and hot plunge), and infrared sauna. Additionally monthly members receive: 10% off full price retail, 20% off in-studio workshops and events and 2 new-student guest passes per month.

What do I need to bring to class?

  • If you are taking a Yoga class, come ready with fitness/yoga wear and a mat. If you are taking a Breathe + Plunge class, come wearing comfortable clothes and a bathing suit underneath or to change into. If you forget any gear at home, we’ve got you covered with mats/towels to rent. We ask that you leave belongings outside of the breathe room, including cell phones!

What is the age limit?

Unfortunately, we do not permit anybody under the age of 12 to use the studio. Those ages 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone ages 16-17 can enjoy our studio without an adult so long as a waiver is signed by a legal guardian.

Do I need to have any experience prior to taking the class/es?

  • We welcome all levels to participate! Our instructors are highly trained to support and guide students of any experience level

Can I share my credits with others?

While our class credit packs may be shared with other guests, memberships are non-transferable.

It’s my first time taking class, how should I prepare?

Plan on arriving 15 minutes early to check-in to class. Your instructor will guide you into the community room for a quick informative “intro” to breathing prior to the beginning of class. From there your instructor will help you get settled into the breathing room, before getting your breathe on!

I’ve taken a Breathe Degrees class before but not in the studio, what do I need to know?

Welcome back! We ask that you still arrive a few minutes prior to the start of class to get checked-in.

Can I freeze my membership?

You may freeze your membership for up to 3 months, once a year.

What is your cancellation policy?

We open up our reservations 14 days in advance so that you can book ahead and claim your spot. Should you need to cancel, we ask that you do so  12 hours prior to the start of your reservation. Any cancellations less than 12 hours in advance are considered a late cancellation and will result in loss of credit or no-show fee in the case of monthly memberships.

Do you have showers?

Yes! We offer community showers to rinse off following the cold + hot plunges. We ask that you limit your shower time as a common courtesy to others wishing to use the amenities. If you are coming from physical activity or wish to use the sauna, we require you to rinse off before taking your plunge.

Is there a maximum amount for doing breathwork?

No! The more the better! We recommend integrating an intentional breathwork practice into your daily routine and utilizing the techniques throughout your daily life.

Is it normal to feel sensations when doing breathwork?

At Breathe Degrees, we use a dynamic breathing practice to help you attain a deep state of calm. As a result of this practice you will experience an increase of oxygen in your arterial system that may result in vibrations or tingling sensations in your body.  All of which are completely normal and will dissipate following the breathing practice.

Is breathwork a meditation?

Science has proven through contrast brain studies that when a person is engaged in any long standing, rhythmic pattern of breathing a phenomenon occurs, known as transient hypofrontality. This essentially is a dimmer switch to the prefrontal cortex which is your cognitive center, which is the “thinking” part of your brain. By diminishing this we are able to give our thinking brain a nap and tap into the present moment. Almost every form of meditation is associated with a style of Breathing. We believe meditation is anything that gets you out of your mind and into the present, no festering on the past and no pondering on the future. All of our Breath work styles focus on a particular rhythm and cadence for an associated desired neurochemical and physiological state.

Are there any lockers to put your belongings?

We offer cubbies to place your belongings such as shoes, towels and bags as well small cell phone lockers to place any items of value if you choose.
